I think I did pretty good considering I've been going shopping about every two weeks... I don't feel too guilty about buying this much anymore. Although wasting is not a good habit but I've been doing good with eating it in time.
I've been aiming to eat way more veggies again so I did buy quite a bit. I've been including veggies for lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. What I bought:
- baby spinach
- roasted red pepper hummus
- bananas
- romaine lettuce
- red leaf lettuce
- grape tomatoes (the cherub ones are so good!)
- unsweetened apple sauce
- green, red, and yellow bell peppers
- gala apples
- avocados
- English cucumbers
- carrots
- celery
- Source yogurt
I use the spinach in green smoothies as well as in salads. The hummus is to eat with my veggies as my afternoon snack. I have my cucumber, celery, carrots, and tomatoes all washed up and in individual containers to grab and take to work or to dive into when I'm wanting some munchies.
I share my lettuce with my guinea pig so I don't worry too often about how much I buy of that. The apple sauce is so use in 'baking' and to add to oatmeal and smoothies. It adds a great flavor and smoothness.
Bell peppers are so versatile - you can munch on them as a sweet snack or sautee them up with some chicken and make fajitas (sans tortilla - use a romaine leaf). I add half an avocado into my green smoothie - it makes it so creamy and has good fats for you.
I usually buy Greek yogurt but when I was at Walmart the other weekend they had the Source yogurt tubs on for $2 so I bought a few and ended up really liking them. They do have a sweetner and Greek yogurt is healthier for you but these are tasty and are a great 'dessert'.
