Week 2 and feeling great!

Good morning my fit friends. I ended up walking to work this morning which is just under 2 km's away from where I live. I was running late so I was power walking and worked up quite a sweat. I'm really looking forward to exercising tonight. Going to do Week 1 Day 2 and some Dance Central for Xbox Kinect. I am really enjoying it and I can't wait until I can afford to buy my own. I've always loved dancing even though I've never taken classes of any sort.

Yesterday's was a killer, in such a good way. It was warm in my apartment but I was sweating so much it was dripping on my yoga mat. I also recorded myself with my Blackberry Playbook and it was really cool to see how far I've come from when I first started.

When I started Bodyrock in June I was doing push ups from my knees and even those I found really hard. Yesterday I was doing elevated push ups! I don't know if I'll share the video yet but I think it is important to watch yourself workout, whether its with a mirror or a camera. It helps you keep your form and more aware of how you're doing.

Back to Bodyrock

Hello my lovelies :)

I have decided that I need to get back to strength training so I started bodyrock again last week, as I had posted. I'm pleased to say that my abs are killing me and it feels great! I missed that feeling and I'm really excited to see what kind of results I'll get now.

I was going to try doing the new 30 day challenge from but I've come to the realization that I do not like the format of it, with the different workouts (HIIT, lean, reps, etc.). So I am going to be starting the 30 day challenge they posted in May of last year. I loved it. I think one of the reasons I stopped bodyrock is because I hated having to decide on a video with no schedule to follow. I've also been slacking in my workouts too. I've been doing them since Wednesday but I know I'm not doing them as hard as I could be. Thursday was awful because I was soooo full from the food day at work and Friday because I was sore. Yesterday and today I did go much harder and I feel like I had a great workout. If you're interested in the 30 day challenge from May, I've posted all of the links on my Workout Journal page.

For some reason I'm just not enjoying it as much as I used to... maybe I'm just in a funk and I know that I'm extremely exhausted. Hopefully some rest and time will get rid of the stress and exhaustion. It was a long weekend but I was still up early both days so far. Saturday I had to drive my mom to a pick for a retreat at 7AM and this morning my friend and god daughter had spent the night so she was up at 8AM.

Tomorrow morning it will be just me and my Dexter, although he tends to be quite a squawk box... here's hoping he'll let mommy sleep lol.

Today I did Turbo Fire 30 and Stretch 10. My shoulder is bothering me tonight but I plan on starting the BR challenge tomorrow.

I also tried a new recipe last night and ended up making more tonight. Someone on my fit group posted their 2 ingredient cookies and they sounded like a great idea. All they require are bananas and oatmeal. I used 2 large bananas and mashed them with a potato masher. Then added in some quick oats until it was the consistency of cookie batter/dough. I have a nut/seed mixture that has pumpkin and sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, and dried blueberries so I added a little bit of that. I also added cinnamon that made them smell sooooo good. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. I didn't feel guilty about eating these because... well come on, they're only banana and oatmeal. :)

I went grocery shopping on my day off this week (testing out the new Walmart super center) and bought bell peppers. I had saved this plastic container from fruit that I had bought in the summer and I had forgot about it until I moved, so I cut up all my peppers and have them ready to munch on and add into stuff in this convenient container. 

This was my dinner the other night. Nothing special, egg skillet with the peppers above, with some onions fried in coconut oil. With a side of steamed green beans.

Alright! I need to get off the computer, my eyes are feeling crossed. Good night and I will post my scores tomorrow from the fit test... again lol.

All moved in!

Hello friends! This will be a short post because I NEED to have a chill night (or what's left of the night). I've been GO GO GO for the past week and I'm DONE!

I moved into my new place on Saturday with the help of my amazing friends and family. I had no idea I had so much support and it was really emotionally over whelming to be honest. It's nice to know you're loved that much lol. I LOVE my new place too. My own space, the first time living on my own. Well, I have my cat Dexter here too, and he has enough personality to fill this apartment lol. He's also loving all the space making entrances and exits.

I had a day off work today and went to the dentist and got my cable and internet installed. And I managed to do my first workout in a week. It felt like torture :( I wanted to do more too but I was waiting for the damn installers (which almost didn't end up showing up, good thing I work for the provider haha). I did "Dripping with sweat" from Bodyrock and Turbo Fire HIIT 15.

Good morning!

I managed to get my butt out of bed early this morning so I smashed out a Daily HIIT workout from their challenge (it was a good one) and did the 20 minute Turbo Jam. So there's my 40 minutes for the day :) I do quite enjoy getting it out of the way before work and not having to worry about it after. I can only do this on my late shift weeks though otherwise I'd have to be getting up around 4:00AM... and that is NOT going to happen lol.

I always feel silly bringing so many things to work but I like to make sure I'm not starving. Here are what my lunches look like for two days.

Morning snack: a yogurt cup and grapes. Lunch: romaine salad with hard boiled eggs, sliced almonds, hemp hearts, chia seeds, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, shredded skim milk mozzarella cheese, and balsamic dressing (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a bit of honey to bind it), and an apple. Afternoon snack: celery and carrot sticks, yogurt cup. The cheerios were to tide me over between my AM snack and lunch. (I had oatmeal for breakfast this day)

Morning snack: yogurt cup and half a large banana. Lunch: romaine salad, grape tomatoes, sliced almonds, hemp hearts, chia seeds, shredded skim milk mozzarella cheese, same dressing as above, and a tilapia fillet. Afternoon snack: yogurt cup. I wasn't very hungry this day on my afternoon break so I ended up eating my apple around 5:30PM (worked until 6:15PM) and had left over veggies for home. The little pancake is my snack between morning break and lunch because this shift throws me off.

30 day challenge - on hold?

Happy Saturday everyone!

I have to admit I've been sucking with the 30 day challenge from It's not because I don't have time or haven't been working out, it's because my joints are killing me lately. My knees, hips, and shoulders. I've been doing at least some workout but unfortunately almost everything hurts them =/ It's really annoying that it prevents me from working out when I actually want to.

I watched the last 3 videos from dailyhiit that I missed and all of them make me cringe in pain from watching lol. So I'm going to do a Turbo Fire or Insanity video today. Insanity is hard on my joints too but I can take breaks when needed and not jump as high as them.

Last night I went out for dinner with a friend and I was bad! I treated myself to an individual sized pizza at Boston  Pizza. It was ham and pineapple :) my favorite. If that wasn't bad enough, we shared an apple crisp dessert and she's lactose intolerant so I ate both scoops of ice cream myself, haha. I did down 4 large glasses of water while we there though, even the waiter seemed surprised when I asked for more. I'm not going to sweat it though, things happen and today I'm going to work out hard because I try to do that on Saturdays :) My goal is to have the abs I keep dreaming about for the summer and that is fast approaching.

I feel like I eat relatively clean and workout regularly so I obviously need to work on changing something. I guess this month will be testing things out and seeing what is preventing these abs from showing.
